Let me introduce myself, my name is Robert Lopez and I have been living in Japan for 27 years. I am married to Sanae Lopez and we have a 17 year old daughter.

　I began teaching at a Cram school in Seta city, but I found my self only preparing them for test, Although Japanese students learn English at an early age , but still many of them will not be able to communicate in even basic English. This is because the English education in Japanese schools is mainly geared towards helping the students to pass the written university entrance exams. Now of course this is good but they need Communication skills as well this is what we try to provide in our center.

　I attended an a parents day at my daughter school and their was little discussion or group activity , teachers talked Japanese and students read books out loud in English. I think that active participation is extremely important in order to improve English communication skills. Japanese people are for the most part genuinely interested in learning about other cultures and wish to communicate in English, but until the schools overhauls the English education system and Japanese people learn to not care what others think, they will never progress beyond the exams….So in saying this please help your childern and yourself and lets learn and have fun with learning English Communacation skills…at Talking Book English Center. Where our staff & I feel that commucation is important and having fun as well.

皆さんに自己紹介させて頂きます。私の名前はロバートロペスです。
日本で生活するようになって27年たちました。サナエロペスと結婚し17歳の娘がいます。

来日してまずは瀬田にある語学学校で働きました。
そこで、日本の英語教育はテストのためだけにある現実に気付きました。
また、早い時期から英語を習ってもたくさんの人は身につけることが出来ず、
基本的な英語を使ったコミニケーションも取れない。

これは、日本の大学受験に対してのためだけの英語教育システムにあります。
これを否定するのではなく、コミュニケーション力を上げる事の重要性を感じました。

私達の教室では会話力、コミュニケーション力を伸ばす事にフォーカスしたレッスンを
行っています。娘の学校の英語の授業を参観したことがありますが、
アクティビティやディスカッションは少なく、
教師は日本語で授業を進め、生徒は本を声を出して読む。

参加型のアクティブな授業は絶対に必要で、
コミュニケーション力を養うためには大変重要なものです。

日本人は基本的には海外の文化を習ったり、
英語でコミュニケーションを計りたいと望んでいますが
英語教育システムが改良され、また、発言することについて、
周りを意識しないようにならなければ、進歩はありません。

何を言いたいかと言うとご自分やご自分の子供達の為にも、
英会話、コミュニケーション能力を身につけませんか？

私たち講師、スタッフも楽しみながらコミュニケーションを身につける事が、
大切だと感じています。
